On 18th May 2011, TopRank Corporation Sdn Bhd (now known as Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems Asia Sdn Bhd) organised a 1-day Seminar on Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D).   The seminar was supported by TEEAM.  It aimed to highlight the importance of having a fully type tested MV (medium voltage) equipment in relation to safety operation; to introduce the latest technology in electrical supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) & Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system; and the comparison of Copper & Aluminium transformer (TMC Transformer).

Topics covered were:

• Substation Automation System RTU & SCADA SYSTEM by Ms Carmen Foong Kah Mun, Senior Project Engineer of Ampston Control & Automation Sdn Bhd.
• Introduction to Automated Meter Reading System  by Ms Carmen Foong Kah Mun, Senior Project Engineer of Ampston Control & Automation Sdn Bhd.
• How Important is Type Testing by Mr Tan Quok Chiat, Assistant R&D Manager of Ampston Control & Automation Sdn Bhd.
• TMC Transformer by Mr Pascal Filippi, Key Account Manager of TMC Italia Spa.

Some 100 participants attended the seminar. Majority of them were from JKR, TNB and the private sector who are involved in the field of consulting, engineering, construction, project works and contracting.  It was an informative and beneficial seminar.
