T he Programme on Environmental Management for Malaysia – Promotion of Energy Efficiency was successfully organised for the third time by the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS) Japan and TEEAM from 21st November to 4th December 2010 at Yokohama Kenshu Center (YKC), Yokohama, Japan. TEEAM managed to recruit 22 trainees for the programme.
The 2-week programme covers:
- Current situation and utilisation of new energies – Solar power generation by Mr Shotaro Okano, Professional Engineer of the Office of Professional Engineer,
- Energy saving technologies in manufacture processes – Power management & electrical facilities by Dr Shunji Ichida, Professional Engineer (Electrical & Electronics) and Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering),
- Energy-saving technologies in manufacture processes – Thermal technology, lighting & air-conditioning by Mr Takashi Suzuki of Suzuki Technical Consulting Ltd,
- Basic science and technologies about heat (cold heat) generation and heat transfer by Mr Takashi Suzuki of Suzuki Technical Consulting Ltd,
- Energy saving measures for air-conditioning and lighting systems in factories and buildings by Mr Takashi Suzuki of Suzuki Technical Consulting Ltd, and
- Guidance on final report presentation – How to read “Crude oil conversion sheet” by Mr Kazuo Aizaki of Ai Engineer Office.
Several technical visits and study tours were made to Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), Thermal Storage System Technical Centre, Yamatake Technology Centre Campo Recycle Plaza and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. It was a very fruitful and beneficial programme for the trainees and TEEAM hopes to organise another session in November 2011.
