We are proud of you! Winners of the prestigious TEEAM academic excellence awards were rewarded for their outstanding performance in the 2009 public examinations. A ceremony was held on 24th July 2010 at TEEAM.
The number of awards given this year is nine for UPSR category, eight for PMR category, six for SPM category, one for STPM category and three for A-Level. Eighteen book prizes are awarded to the best electrical, electronics and mechatronics engineering undergraduates from University of Malaya (UM), University of Science Malaysia (USM), University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) and University of Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). The best trainee of building wiring installer course is also awarded. The USM and UTM recipients received their book prizes through state association members, ie Penang Electrical Merchants’ Association and Johor Bahru Electrical & Electronics Association respectively.
When interviewed, UPSR recipient, Goh Wen Jin said that he does revision at least two hours every day to get straight As in his results. The young boy has an ambition to become a pilot. During his free time he plays computer games.
Another UPSR recipient, Ali Imran Mohd Zaini believes that constant revision and tuition help him to achieve good results. He hopes to study in medical field as he aspires to become a doctor. He likes outdoor activities such as fishing and cycling.
Teh Zhi Quan, a PMR recipient attributes his success to doing a lot of revision exercises and paying full attention in class. Badminton and football are his favourite sports. He hopes to study in engineering or chemical fields. He hopes to build a career in mechatronics engineering.
Also a PMR recipient, Yeo Yen Chi agreed that sufficient revision is the key of her success. Yen Chi wishes to be an accountant. She loves drawing and playing chess.
One of the SPM recipients, Chua Jung Kiang said that he has no secret in achieving good results. However he does not sacrifice fun for academic achievement. He hopes to be an engineer and will be pursuing study in the field of engineering in Canada. He loves football and surfing internet during his free time.
Nelson Hii Hie Sheng is the only STPM recipient. He always studies hard and smart. He will be pursuing his study in arts and social science in UM. Nelson wishes to be a teacher or lecturer as he hopes to contribute to the society by educating the younger generation to build the nation.
A-Level recipient, Mah Ming Yi shared that she always has enough sleep before her exam. It takes hard work to build up academic confidence and she loves to share knowledge among her friends. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting and management in University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus. She loves performing arts.
Ng Wee Lit, one of the TEEAM book prize recipients from the electrical engineering field of University of Malaya said that he has his own study system. He always seeks his lecturers’ advice in his lessons and he continues to learn new knowledge to upgrade himself. He will focus his study in microelectronics and hopes to create or innovate some electronic products which are beneficial to mankind.
Another book prize recipient Ch’ng Khai Chiah who is an undergraduate from the electrical and electronics faculty of UTAR, believes that his good achievement is the result of his attitude of enthusiasm. He focuses on understanding and memorising his study. He wishes to be a professional engineer and be involved in management level. He planned to continue his study to achieve PhD and hopes that his profession can contribute to develop the nation to be advanced in the electronics field.
It was a proud and joyous occasion for all the recipients and their parents.
