Elecrama 2012, the 10th international exhibition of electrical and industrial electronics industry of India was set for a dazzling start on 18th January 2012 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, India. A powerful laser show emphasising the event theme stunned the guests at the opening ceremony. Dignitaries included Chief Guest, Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde, Minister of Power, Government of India; foreign delegates; senior industry veterans; government official and exhibitors. The 5-day exhibition was organised by the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA).
IEEMA had been successfully organising Elecrama over the last seventeen years. The association is one of the key representatives of manufacturers of electrical, professional electronics and allied equipment. Elecrama 2012 spanned over 60,000 square meters of exhibition space with over 1,243 exhibitors. It successfully drew over 50,000 business visitors.
Delivering her welcoming address, Ms Indra Menon, Organising Chairperson of Elecrama 2012 said that the brand name Elecrama which has been nurtured by IEEMA is well recognised and is a much sought after exhibition. It promises visitors an unparalled array of technological choices. It is a platform from where people and companies launch the future.
In his opening speech, Mr Ramesh Chandak, IEEMA President shared that IEEMA was founded in 1948 and is the national representative organisation of the electrical equipment industry which covers the complete value chain in power from generation to transmission and to distribution. IEEMA along with its members will join hands together to establish and promote the “Made in India Brand” through the platform of Elecrama.
Chief Guest, Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde, Minister of Power, Government of India in his keynote address congratulated IEEMA for bringing a successful Elecrama 2012 which would go a long way in bringing all stakeholders together for the development of the Indian power industry.
This in turn would help the nation to boost up industrial production in the country and give impetus to the national economy. In support of Elecrama 2012, TEEAM organised a 6-member trade delegation to visit the gigantic exhibition.
The vast exhibits spread over five exhibition halls. It was a good platform for global electrical companies to look at Indian products, solutions and services. There were opportunities in technology partnership, tapping investment prospects and adding value to their business portfolio. Delegates were impressed by the vast range of exhibits and the innovative technologies displayed.
For the first time, IEEMA organised a “Reverse Buyer Seller Meet” programme during the exhibition for business matching meetings. Some 350 foreign delegates from Africa, Latin America, CIS and Asean had formal meetings scheduled with equipment sellers from India. TEEAM wishes to record its appreciation and thanks to IEEMA for their warm hospitality during the delegates’ stay in Mumbai.
