The present year is coming to an end soon making place for a new year. As we wrap up what has been an immensely challenging year for people around the world, on behalf of the TEEAM Council, I wish all TEEAM Members and Associates a happy and prosperous New Year 2022.
Many of us would agree that 2021 was a tough year for everyone, particularly those who have lost relatives and friends or have struggled with the health impacts of COVID-19. Starting from the catastrophic COVID-19 pandemic which continues to disrupt lives and business globally, and the worst of the lot, Malaysia is hit by floods; 2021 was a year like no other. TEEAM had pulled together to support our members and the communities in which we live and work, to help each other get through these challenging times.
It comes as no surprise that the year saw a steep decline in year-on-year transaction volumes in capital flows due to a confluence of factors, including border closures, country lockdowns and essentially, a need for everyone to recalibrate their views of the market. Going beyond the short-term, the pandemic has prompted profound changes in the E&E industry. While the success of government efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 have helped limit its impact on local markets, there is no doubt that the health crisis will leave permanent changes in the way people work and live going forward. I would like to thank the front-line workers who have been helping us in countless ways, as well as the scientists and healthcare workers who have developed and rolled out the vaccines that are saving lives and will enable the world to fully open up again.
Despite the unprecedented times, we spent a busy, fulfilling year organising the prestigious CIE 2021 Midterm Meeting & Conference, TEEAM AGM & Election 2021 and also participating in many virtual events that allowed our members to continue to connect, learn and collaborate, both online and offline. As I look back on the past fiscal year, and ahead to what comes next, I see us in the midst of an exciting transformation, on the cusp of a new, digital future and climate change. With the strong support from our members, TEEAM will continue to expand its reach and membership network, especially in automation and digitalisation world.
TEEAM looks forward to a lot more opportunities to work together with the Government and related organisations through TEEAM’s representation in external organisations where standards, practices, industry’s issues and concerns are discussed and also engage with local NGOs and professional institutions such as MEiF, IEM, MBAM, MCMEA, MEPN to promote collaboration and enhance our standing in the industry, as well as having joint events to benefit members.
For 2022 we must continue to be optimistic and face the challenges ahead with good cheer. With spreading joy, love, kindness and extending a helping hand together, I wish a happy, peaceful, safe and prosperous New Year 2022!
“Coming together is a beginning, Staying together is progress, and working together is success.”
Stay safe & stay healthy always!
