Strengthening Industry Collaboration with CIDB Malaysia

The Malaysia Council of Mechanical & Electrical Contractors (MCMEA) paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Executive of the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB), Sr. Ahmad Farrin Mokhtar, on 15 July 2026 at MET Corporate Tower, Kuala Lumpur.

MCMEA, comprising the Malaysian Fire Protection Association (MFPA), Malaysia Building Automation System Association (BASAM), Malaysian Lift and Escalator Association (MALEA), The Electrical and Electronics Association of Malaysia (TEEAM), Master Plumbers Association Malaysia (MPAM) and Malaysian Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Association (MACRA), was warmly received by Sr. Ahmad Farrin Mokhtar and his senior management team.

The MCMEA delegation was led by Mr. Peter Tan, Chairman of MCMEA and Immediate Past President of MACRA. Other delegates included Mr. Gan Chok Ser (President, MACRA), Dato’ Andy Kwan (Past President, MACRA), Mr. Goh Chee Seng (President, MPAM), Mr. Jeffrey Lim (President, BASAM) and Dato’ Andy Tan (Honorary Treasurer, TEEAM).

The meeting provided a valuable platform to discuss key issues affecting the M&E industry, including the development of skilled workers, industry training, and the retention sum mechanism in construction contracts.

CIDB expressed its readiness to support training initiatives for skilled workers in the ACMV-R, plumbing and electrical sectors. Both CIDB and MCMEA also agreed to work together on exploring a practical mechanism for the retention sum to be held as a trust fund.

TEEAM looks forward to continued collaboration with CIDB and our industry partners in strengthening the M&E sector and supporting the sustainable growth of Malaysia’s construction industry.
