The Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition (GILE) 2012, Asia’s most comprehensive lighting and LED event which was held from 9th to 12th June 2012 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, Guangzhou, has set new records for exhibitors and visitors attendance. This 17th edition of the exhibition was organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messes Frankfurt Co Ltd. The lighting exhibition was held concurrently with Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology Exhibition and Building Solar China Exhibition. Together the whole exhibition attracted 2,914 exhibitors showcasing their products in 21 halls covering 210,000 sqm. Visitor numbers increased by 10% compared to the 2011 event with the final count being 110,406 from 111 countries and regions.

TEEAM Deputy President, Ir Steven Ng together with nine delegates from SECA Singapore and TEMCA Thailand, extended their stay after the AFEEC/FAPECA conference and meeting to join HKECA Hong Kong members to visit Guangzhou Lighting Exhibition . They set off from Hong Kong at 10.00 am on 8th June 2012 in a chartered coach. On the way, they dropped by Dongguan for a plant visit to Keystone Electric Wire & Cable Co Ltd. They arrived in Guangzhou in the evening and checked into Villi International Hotel. A welcome dinner was hosted by Messes Frankfurt for the AFEEC/FAPECA delegates.

The delegates attended the exhibition opening on the next day, 9th June 2012. After the opening, the delegates were given a guided VIP tour. Other TEEAM members who visited the exhibition were Mr C T Siew, Mr Kong Chee Seng, Mr Lum Kok Ming and Mr Chan Kien Wai. The delegates to the exhibition continued to be impressed by the comprehensive range of lighting products and technologies. It was a good place for meeting suppliers, industry experts and customers, and obtaining the latest market information.

Other attractive fringe programmes were the Asia LED Summit and AGORA Networking Forum. The summit featured LED industry experts from around the world exchanging first-hand information on LED technology. The AGORA forum saw fourteen industry associations converging to discuss trends and opportunities in the LED field.

Later in the night, the delegates went on a city tour of landmark structures along the banks of the Pearl River. The buildings were illuminated with fascinating architectural lights that left fond memories to the delegates. On the next day, the delegates left Guangzhou in separate ways to return to their respective countries.
