On 12th April 2011, the 1-day “Global Community of Growth, Innovation and Leadership, GIL 2011: Malaysia” was successfully held at Sime Darby Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.  The global congress was organised by Frost & Sullivan which is a Growth Partnership Company that helps clients to accelerate growth and achieve best-in-class positions in growth, innovation and leadership.  TEEAM was one of the supporting organisations.  Some 20 TEEAM officials and members attended the congress.

The Global President of Frost & Sullivan, Mr Aroop Zutshi presented his keynote address on “The CEO’s perspective on growth: The six platforms of GIL”. Presentation on “Top 10 global mega trends and their impact on business, cultures and society” was presented by Mr Manoj Menon (Partner & Asia Pacific Managing Director, Frost & Sullivan).

A panel discussion was held to discuss the topic of “Leadership – the new frontiers: Building sustainable businesses”. Panelists were Mr Jaffri Ibrahim (Vice President, Business and Technology Advisory, Malaysia Debt Ventures), Dato’ Eddy Leong (Managing Directory of Firefly) and En Amiruddin Abd Satar (Chief Operations Officer, KPJ Healthcare Bhd).  Some key issues were addressed such as: The key issues of sustainability for Asian businesses, ; how are Asian leaders preparing to address sustainability of businesses; and how will growth and sustainability concerns be managed.

During brainstorming, participants took the opportunity to take a deeper dive into the myths, implications and futuristic innovations that would become key drivers to face industry challenges.  Participants brainstormed, benchmarked and leveraged on one another’s leadership thought to inspire one another with new ideas, and visionary perspectives for the future.

Participants tapped into the collective intelligence assembled at the global congress. Some latest knowledge, ideas and tools of the 21st Century and predictions of economic recovery information were shared with all participants.

The congress was then divided into two concurrent sessions, ie industry think tanks and career track session.  The concurrent industry think tanks include healthcare, energy, financial services, electronics & semiconductor, information & communication technology and transportation & logistics.

The concurrent career track sessions were on corporate strategy, marketing, innovation and research & development.

Participants were invited to register as a member of the GIL online community portal in order to access GIL Malaysia presentation under library tab and network with all members from world-over.  It was an interesting congress with excellent opportunity for networking.
