The 20th Conference of the Electric Power Supply Industry (CEPSI 2014) of the Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and the Western Pacific (AESIEAP) was successfully hosted by the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) from 26th to 30th October 2014 at the International Convention Centre in Jeju, Korea.
CEPSI is AESIEAP’s biggest and most important event held every even year. CEPSI 2014 marked the first time in 40 years in the history of AESIEAP that the event was held in Korea. The event was attended by approximately 2,600 participants from 36 countries including some 50 CEOs of electric power companies. CEPSI 2014 featured various programmes such as keynote speeches, discussion sessions and paper presentations, etc. In addition, exhibitions, CPO Forum and buyer-seller one-on-one meetings were held concurrently to provide an effective and practical arena for the creation of new business opportunities. Interesting technical visits to Jeju Conversion Station, HVDC Super Power Grid, Smart Grid Centre and Jocheon Substation were also arranged.
Under the conference theme, “The Role and Responsibilities of the Electric Power Industry to Make a Smart and Green Society”, participants of CEPSI 2014 discussed various strategies and cooperative measures to create a smarter and greener future of electricity and to adapt to climate change. With the meaningful exchanges during the 5-day event, it is strongly believed that CEPSI 2014 has helped to move everyone closer towards achieving the initiative of becoming “One Asia-Pacific”.
TEEAM was privileged to be one of the supporting organisations, and a delegation comprising Ir Yong Ah Huat (TEEAM Deputy President), Mrs Jasmine Yong (Toshiba TDA), Mr Peter Lu (Vice Chairman of Sarawak Electrical Association – SEA), Mr Andrew Lu (Powerpoint Electrical) and Ms Winnie Khong (TEEAM Executive Secretary) attended the event in Jeju, Korea.
TEEAM wishes to put on record our heartfelt thanks to KEPCO/AESIEAP and the organising staff for their warm hospitality and great effort in making all the arrangements. It was a very good exposure and a great opportunity to meet so many people from the power industry across the world. CEPSI 2014 will be remembered as one of the largest and most successful gatherings of its kind to date. The next CEPSI gathering will be held in Thailand to be hosted by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) in 2016.
