AGM 2012

The 2012 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of TEEAM was successfully held on 20th May 2012 (Sunday) at TEEAM Conference room. Some 53 TEEAM members were present at the AGM. In conjunction with the AGM, TEEAM organised a talk on “Tax Planning: Tax Audit & Investigation” in the morning. The speaker, Ms Elaine Wong from YYC, spoke about tax planning and other issues related to taxation. Members later had interactive sessions with the speaker to resolve some of their teething tax issues.

Opening Address When the AGM was called to order, President, Engr Fu Wing Hoong recorded a vote of thank to the MC of the day, Mr Jack Soon Lee Hock, and expressed his gratitude to members for their presence. He informed that TEEAM will celebrate its 60th Anniversary on 8th September 2012 at the One World Hotel and in conjunction with this TEEAM will establish a building fund where all the sponsorship fund raised will go into the building fund. The fund later will be used to upgrade and renovate the TEEAM building. In view of this, he requested all members to support this event by disseminate the information to their business associates and friends to participate in the event which will be a good platform for networking and to establish new business contacts.

Engr Fu highlighted some issues on the global economic environment which has been showing uncertainties. He advised the members to be more efficient, careful and hardworking to ride through the tough time. He also highlighted the key objectives of TEEAM and some of the significant activities that TEEAM had initiated especially on the technical report on suitability of LED for road lightings in Malaysia.

In his closing remarks, Engr Fu expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude for the trust and support shown by the members and he also expressed his sincere appreciation to the TEEAM Secretariat and the Council members for the hard work and cooperation given throughout the year.

Acceptance of Minutes, Annual Report and Accounts

The AGM approved the minutes of the previous annual general meeting. Honorary Secretary, Mr Ho Khai Hong presented the annual report on the activities of the association. This was followed by the tabling of audited accounts by the Honorary Treasurer, Mr Wong Chin Cheong. Both the annual report and audited accounts were duly adopted by the AGM.

Other Matters

The Vice President, Ir Chew Shee Fuee highlighted some of the forthcoming activities organised by TEEAM. He informed that the TEEAM Membership Recruitment Sub-Committee is organising a technical visit to Malaysian Newsprint Industries Sdn Bhd’s newsprint plant in Temerloh-Mentakab on 16th June 2012 where members can gain some knowledge about newsprint production and the power generation facility which uses bio mass from palm oil mill waste. In conjunction with the TEEAM 60th Anniversary Dinner, the Engineering Construction and Services Committee will also be presenting Best Electrical Contractor Award to TEEAM members. The Committee decided to give four awards for four different categories (Industrial, Commercial, Infrastructure and Residential) and the winners will be recommended for AFFEC Awards for best Malaysian Contractor in the 2013 AFEEC/ FAPECA Meeting.

He added that the Membership Recruitment Committee has targeted to recruit 2,020 members by year 2020. He advised members to visit the TEEAM website to obtain more information on the current and future activities; to download the Suara TEEAM; view the ST’s circulars and other valuable information. Besides, members can also retrieve information on past events and photos from the TEEAM facebook.

A buffet lunch was served after the adjournment of the AGM.
