Singapore Electrical Contractors and Licensed Electrical Workers Association (SECA) took pride in hosting the 2016 Conference and Meeting of the ASEAN Federation of Electrical Engineering Contractors (AFEEC) and the Federation of Asian Pacific Electrical Contractors Associations (FAPECA). The grand event was held from 28th & 30th September 2016 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. This Rotational Annual Conference was held this year in conjunction with the 40th Anniversary Celebrations of SECA to jubilate their milestones and successes over the past 40 years.
The Conference and Meeting drew participation from National Associations including the Association of Indonesia Electrical and Mechanical Contractors (AKLI), Korea Electrical Contractors Association (KECA), Society of Philippines Electrical Contractors & Suppliers (SPECS), Taiwan Electrical Contractors Association (TECA), Hong Kong Electrical Contractors Association (HKECA), Thai Electrical & Mechanical Contractors Association (TEMCA), SECA Singapore and TEEAM Malaysia.
The Conference theme was SMART – Sustainability, Maintainable, Alternative and Renewal Technologies where member countries presented Papers on Green Technologies and Innovative as well as Sustainable Energy Practices. TEEAM’s Paper on Sustainability and Connectivity of the Lighting Industry was presented by Dr Tan Ching Seong, Honorary Secretary of TEEAM.
The International Facility Management Expo (IFAME) 2016 was held alongside the Conference hence allowing Delegates to also visit the Expo which showcased Access Security & Control, Asbestos Removal, Asset Tracking, Audio-Visual Equipment, Building Maintenance and Building Management Systems.
The 54th AFEEC Council Meeting and 30th FAPECA Executive Board Meeting were convened smoothly. It was also an excellent avenue for networking and exploring business opportunities. The Meeting witnessed the official hand-over of the AFEEC Presidency from AKLI Indonesia to TEEAM Malaysia. Ir Chew Shee Fuee KMN, TEEAM President now helms the AFEEC Presidency.
The grand event also witnessed the presentation of AFEEC Best Electrical Contractors Awards for 2016. The prestigious Winners from Malaysia are:

- Dexon Electrical Engineering Sdn Bhd – Winner of Residential Category
- SJEE Engineering Sdn Bhd – Winner of Commercial Category
- Sunway Engineering Sdn Bhd – Winner of Infrastructure Category
TEEAM Delegates had a wonderful trip and fully enjoyed their stay in Singapore. A big thank you to SECA for their tremendous hard work and great efforts in organising such a fantastic grand event. TEEAM is slated to host the 2017 Conference and Meeting in Malaysia.
