Adherence to the Movement Control Order (MCO)

Posted on 12th January 2021 09:59 PM | News and Event

Following the announcement made by YAB Prime Minister on 11 January 2021, it has been declared that the country will be on the following different Movement Control Order (MCO)/Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) depending on the States starting from 13 to 26 January 2021 (extended to 4 February 2021) as a continuation effort to break the chain of COVID-19 infection.

  • MCO (PKP)
    • Pulau Pinang, Selangor, Federal Territories, Johor, Melaka and Sabah.
  • Conditional MCO-CMCO (PKPB)
    • Pahang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan.
  • Recovery MCO-RMCO (PKPP)
    • Perlis and Sarawak.
It was also announced that only five (5) sectors are allowed to operate during the latest MCO that starts tomorrow. They are essential economic sectors such as:

1) manufacturing & production,
2) construction,
3) services,
4) trade & distribution,
5) plantation & commodities.

For sectors or services that are not listed as essential economic sectors, working from home (WFH) instructions will take effect.  However, only 30 percent of employees within the management level are allowed to be in the office. Whilst for employees in the support group, the number of employees required at any one time will be determined by the respective employers. It was also reminded that the specified number of employees must take into account the strict compliance of SOP. Any employer who violates the SOP and causes the spread of COVID-19 infection in the workplace, strict action will be taken based on the law including closing of premises.  Hence, TEEAM urges members to comply with the directives made by the Government.
