YB Minister of Transport has issued a Media Statement yesterday, 10th April 2020 announcing the third edition of Port Clearing Exercise. This third exercise will be carried out from next Monday, 13th to 15th April 2020 (3 days) in order to continue to ease congestion in ports nationwide in view of the latest extension of the Movement Control Order (MCO) to 28th April 2020 as announced by YAB Prime Minister yesterday.
This third exercise is to clear congestion of imports and exports cargo of all goods from ports at Port Klang, Johor, Penang, Kuantan, Melaka, Bintulu, and Padang Besar bordering Thailand. The movement of cargo to their final destinations is vital to ensure the uninterrupted supply chain of goods of essential needs during the MCO.
Members are advised to issue authorisation letter to employees for handling of loading and unloading of containers. The Media Statement by MOT is shared with this advisory. Please work closely with your freight forwarders and haulers to handle your containers within the 3 days period as stated above.
