Workshop on Building Sector Energy Efficiency

Posted on 12th January 2017 11:33 AM | Training

TEEAM, in collaboration with the Building Sector Energy Efficiency Project (BSEEP) successfully organised another two Workshops on Energy Efficiency for the Building Sector. It was held on 8th and 15th December 2016 at Eastin Hotel Penang and Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour, Johor respectively. BSEEP is a national-level programme for the Building Sector funded by GEF-UNDP (Global Environmental Facilities – United Nations Development Programme).  BSEEP in Malaysia is managed by the Public Works Department (or JKR).

The Workshop was supported by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM), Green Building Index (GBI), The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), Malaysia Green Building Confederation (MGBC) and Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM).

A team of experts from BSEEP comprising Prof Dr Ir K S Kannan, Mr Deep Kumar and Ir Looi Hip Peu shared their views and expertise. Other Distinguished Speakers were from the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA), Mr Wong Tin Song  and  Ms Falisya Noor Azam, from the Energy Commission (or ST), Ms Hafiza Yob, and Energy Management Expert, Mr Zaini Abdul Wahab (UNIDO).

Through this Workshop, industry-related participants explored the opportunities and business feasibilities of energy efficiency. Rising energy costs, legislations relating to climate change and its impact on markets, and the need for industry players to respond to such trends, were the contexts for this timely Workshop.

Some 30 participants attended each session of these informative Workshops. They comprised Electrical Contractors, Building Consultants, Facility Managers, Building Owners, Building Operators, Building System Vendors, Engineers, Competent Personnel and Government Regulators. The Workshops were approved with BEM CPD/PDP hours, CIDB CCD points and ST CPD hours for Certified Energy Managers.
