Electro-Technical Symposium & Exhibition 2016

Posted on 12th January 2017 11:07 AM | News and Event

The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) and Standards Malaysia co-organised an Electro-Technical Symposium & Exhibition 2016 on 5th & 6th December 2016 at One City Grand Ballroom, Subang Jaya. Themed “Standards Drive Globalisation”, the symposium aimed to generate awareness among the electrical engineering fraternities on the usage of relevant electro-technical standards and the importance of standards compliance as part of the regulations in our country.

YB Datuk Wira Dr Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation Malaysia, officiated the opening of the symposium. Industry experts, professionals, utility providers and regulators spoke on various topics related to standardisation and the safety of electrical installations, consumer products, including the oil and gas industry.

TEEAM together with other partnering organisations supported the symposium. An exhibition was held alongside the symposium which saw 24 booths taken up to showcase related products and services. TEEAM took the opportunity to promote the Self-Test Residual Current Circuit-Breaker (RCCB) to the audience/participants at one of the booth, through the use of a demo RCCB unit.

The symposium and exhibition were an important and meaningful event which brought together the standards committee, government sectors, industry associations, academic institutions, industry players and professionals. It contributed to a better understanding of standardisation changes and challenges which are being faced today, as well as the role and responsibility of all stakeholders. The event successfully drew a crowd of some 500 participants.
