TEEAM Annual General Meeting (AGM) was successfully held on 8th May 2011 at TEEAM Conference Room. It was a historical event as it was the first AGM that was officiated by a Guest of Honour, YB Dato’ Ir Donald Lim Siang Chai, Deputy Finance Minister of Malaysia. He was TEEAM Past President from 1995-2001 and also TEEAM Honorary Fellow. Some 77 TEEAM members were present at the AGM.
Opening Address
TEEAM President, Engr Fu Wing Hoong thanked YB Dato’ Ir Donald Lim for taking time off to officiate the TEEAM AGM. He also expressed his gratitude to members for their presence. The strong support shows that TEEAM is very much a relevant association, representing the voice of more than 1,700 direct and affiliated members. To bring TEEAM to greater heights, much work needs to be done. Engr Fu appealed to all members for their continuous support and participation in activities organised by the association.
Keynote Address
YB Dato’ Ir Donald Lim in his keynote address said that the government always emphasises the importance of maintaining strong and effective relationship with trade associations like TEEAM in order to ensure the systematic progress and development in the industry. Therefore TEEAM is welcomed to get in touch with his ministry to further enhance the relationship so that the E&E sector can move forward in tandem with the needs of the country.
Acceptance of Minutes, Annual Report and Accounts
The minutes of the previous AGM were unanimously approved by the general meeting. This was followed by the tabling of annual report on the activities of TEEAM for the year 2010 by the Honorary Secretary, Mr Ho Khai Hong. The report was duly accepted. Next was the audited accounts for the year ended 31st December 2010 tabled by the Honorary Treasurer, Mr Wong Chin Cheong. The accounts were duly accepted.
Election of New Office Bearers
The election of new office bearers for the year 2011-2013 was carried out during the AGM under the supervision of an Election Committee, chaired by Ir G H Liew. Engr Fu Wing Hoong was re-elected unopposed as TEEAM President. Ir Steven Ng Khoon Hwa also re-elected as the Deputy President. Long time serving Honorary Treasurer, Mr Wong Chin Cheong was returned unopposed. Mr Jack Soon Lee Hock was re-elected unopposed too as the Assistant Honorary Secretary. Mr Ho Khai Hong was re-appointed as the Honorary Secretary by the President. The new post of Assistant Honorary Treasurer was succeeded by Mr Michael Oan Cheng Hoe. There were some new faces joining the line-up and some Council Members were re-elected.
Specialised Group’s General Meeting
Three specialised Groups’ General Meetings were held individually after the AGM. Ir Chew Shee Fuee was re-elected as the Chairman of the Engineering Construction & Services Group. Mr David Chong Ah Nyap succeeded as Chairman of Trading Group for the new term and Mr Yap Ching Kiat was reelected as the Chairman of Manufacturing Group. They also automatically assume the posts of Vice Presidents of TEEAM. The day’s event capped off with a buffet lunch.
