AGM 2010

Posted on 1st October 2010 06:19 AM | News and Event

The 2010 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of TEEAM was successfully held on 9th May 2010 at TEEAM Conference Room. Some 61 members attended the AGM.  The day’s agenda included the presidential address; acceptance of minutes, annual report and annual accounts; and acceptance of proposed amendments to TEEAM’s Constitution.

TEEAM Exco – (from left) Vice Presidents: Engr Leong Kam Seng, Mr Yap Ching Kiat & Ir Chew Shee Fuee, Ir Steven Ng Khoon Hwa (Deputy President), Engr Fu Wing Hoong (President), Mr Ho Khai Hong (Honorary Secretary), Mr Wong Chin Cheong (Honorary Treasurer), Mr Suresh Kumar Gorasia (Past President) and Mr Jack Soon Lee Hock (Assistant Honorary Secretary).

TEEAM President, Engr Fu Wing Hoong highlighted that the government has identified green technology as a new area of growth and called upon members to follow closely on the development which will provide new business opportunities.   The launch of green building index encourages building owners and developers to design and construct green and sustainable buildings that can provide energy and water savings, a healthier environment, better transportation connectivity, and adopting recycling and reduce waste.

The long outstanding lighting issue is finally won over with the government’s decision to rescind the circular which restrict the purchase of street light fittings for government projects. Engr Fu took the opportunity to thank the government for listening to the industry’s concerns.  The government’s action truly reflects the 1Malaysia Policy fully supported by TEEAM.   TEEAM has participated actively in many dialogues, workshops and lab sessions to contribute inputs to the 10th Malaysia Plan.

TEEAM is currently pursuing through various platforms on the urgent need to set up a full fledged electro-technical testing laboratory. TEEAM sees this as an important innovation and R & D highway to spur growth and spin off development.

Acceptance of Minutes, Annual Report and Accounts

The meeting approved the minutes of the previous general meeting.  Honorary Secretary, Mr Ho Khai Hong presented the annual report on the activities of the association.  This was followed by the tabling of audited accounts by the Honorary Treasurer, Mr Wong Chin Cheong.  Both the annual report and audited accounts were duly adopted by the general meeting.

Proposed Amendments to TEEAM’s Constitution

The Council had proposed a number of amendments to the TEEAM’s Constitution to meet current developments and cope with future expansion of the association.  The detailed proposed amendments were tabled and were approved by more than two-thirds majority of members present.  The amendments have since been submitted to the Registrar of Societies for approval.

Conclusion

Engr Fu thanked all present for their great effort in attending the meeting.  He appealed to all present to help invite new members to join TEEAM.  The voice and effectiveness of the association depends a lot on the membership numbers. Hence, more voices mean a stronger TEEAM! The meeting ended with a sumptuous buffet lunch.
