On 21st October 2010, Standards Malaysia organised a National Standards Conference 2010 with the theme “The Pre-requisite for Survival: Meeting Standards in a Globalised Economy” at The Royale Chulan, Kuala Lumpur. Some 120 participants attended the conference. TEEAM officials were present in support of the event.
The conference benefited the representatives from the consumers groups, industries and government agencies, by allowing them to have an open dialogue, to help create greater awareness on the importance of standards to our economy and to further propel the level of standards for the local industries and agencies onto a higher plane than it already is now.
The objectives of the conference were to update participants on the latest trends on standards; to serve as a platform to facilitate discussion for all stakeholders involved in utilising, implementing and setting of standards; to serve as a networking session for the abovementioned stakeholders; and to create greater awareness within the industry and consumer groups on the importance of the role of standards.
The conference successfully attracted the participation of local and foreign small and medium enterprises and multinational corporations from both the manufacturing and service industries; professional certification organisations that are involved in standards certification; and government agencies or departments that are involved in the enforcement of mandatory standards.
