Public Comment on Draft MS1979 (Second Revision)

MS1979 Electrical Installations of Buildings – Code of Practice outlines the essential safety, design, and installation standards for low-voltage electrical systems in Malaysian buildings, ensuring compliance, reliability, and protection for occupants and property. This Malaysian Standard, designated as MS 1979:2007 and revised in 2015, serves as a comprehensive guideline for the planning, design, installation, and inspection of low-voltage electrical installations in buildings. It is based on the internationally recognised MS IEC 60364 framework and adapted to suit local Malaysian conditions and regulatory requirements. The standard applies

primarily to residential houses and dwellings, but its principles may extend to commercial and industrial buildings where applicable.

DSM through its NSC/TC/WG has done the second revision of the MS and is now inviting TEEAM members to comment on the Draft MS1979 (Second Revision).  The public comment period is for 2 months period, from 25 November 2025 – 24 January 2026.
