Following the alarming number of cases and clusters of COVID-19, the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) had advised the industries to join force to help reducing infection and breaking the chain. Currently, manufacturing sector appears to be one of the significant contributors to the active clusters. The published info has also indicated that the construction sector is also the major contributor.
TEEAM is very concerned of the current development as we, the E&E sector cannot afford another round of total lockdown similar to the Movement Control Order (MCO) in March 2020. Hence, I would like to strongly appeal to our members to do our part by following strictly the existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at our workplaces and the living quarters. For those manufacturing members who employ foreign labour, kindly ensure the Akta 446 is followed strictly in order to help breaking the chain of infection.
We must collectively support the Government’s continued efforts in flattening the COVID-19 curve so as to keep the economy open and thus, the business and employment are not affected. Let’s join force to safeguard our economy and the wellbeing of our nation!
Stay Safe, Stay Healthy & Stay Updates with TEEAM.
Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Siew Choon Thye, TEEAM President
